Eloping can be a beautifully intimate and personal way to celebrate your love, and what better place to do it than the breathtaking Garden of the Gods in Colorado? Picture this: you and your love, against the backdrop of towering sandstone rock formations, saying your vows as the sun rises. It sounds like a dream, right? And the best part? It’s completely free! If you are planning to elope in Gardens of the Gods I’ve put together this mini guide for you to keep in hand when planning your elopement in this AMAZING location!

What You Need to Know if You Want to Elope in Gardens of the Gods

You’re probably wondering, “Where exactly can we hold our ceremony?” Well, you’re in luck! There are six specific locations in the park where you can exchange your vows:

  • Jaycee Plaza
  • Sentinel Plaza
  • Three Graces Plaza
  • High Point Overlook (My personal fav! The views are stunning.)
  • Scotsman Picnic Area
  • South Spring Canyon Picnic Area

Each location within the Garden of the Gods offers unique views and experiences! Jaycee Plaza, Sentinel Plaza, and Three Graces Plaza are popular for their close proximity to some of the park’s most stunning rock formations. High Point Overlook, as the name suggests, offers an amazing panoramic view of the park and is especially beautiful at sunrise or sunset! The Scotsman Picnic Area and South Spring Canyon Picnic Area are perfect for those who’d like to incorporate a small reception or picnic into their elopement day. No matter which location you choose, you’re sure to have a memorable and beautiful elopement in the Garden of the Gods.

Brandon & Kenzie’s Garden of the Gods Elopement

Keep in mind that Garden of the Gods can get quite busy during the afternoon, so I recommend eloping on a weekday at sunrise. That’s what one of my couples, Brandon + Kenzie, did, and it was magical! Plus, the park is open year-round, so you don’t have to worry about winter closures. They chose to stay in an Airbnb cabin in Woodland Park, CO, which is only about 20 minutes away from Garden of the Gods. They started their day super early, with a 3 a.m. wake-up call, but it was all worth it. Their ceremony began at 5 a.m., just as the first light was touching the sky.

After their ceremony, they decided to have a little picnic at Scotsman Picnic Area. There, they put together a delicious charcuterie board and enjoyed a simple yet perfect Trader Joe’s wedding cake. It was a moment full of love and joy. To make their day even more memorable, they got matching tattoos of the coordinates of their ceremony location. It was an incredibly unique and personal way to commemorate their elopement.
