From the minute I talked to Steve + Renae on the phone, I knew this was going to be something special. We instantly clicked, it felt like we were already old friends, even though we had never met in person before! When we finally saw each other face to face, it was like reconnecting with friends I had known for years. Their elopement was nothing short of amazing. They packed up their Chevy Colorado, left Texas behind, and made their way to the beautiful wilderness of Dolores, Colorado, a place that held special meaning for Steve. He had spent countless hours elk hunting in the area, and now, it would be the backdrop for one of the most important days of their lives. And the best part? They wanted to incorporate off-roading into their elopement adventure. When they told me that, I was ALL IN!!! Come read more about their elopement in Delores, CO
Steve + Renae chose to elope at a camping site in the San Juan National Forest, which made for the most epic and intimate setting. They had to obtain a permit, which cost them around $200, but let me tell you, it was SO worth it. I love off-roading in my free time with my husband, but this was my first time ever going off-roading with clients during an elopement. And let me tell you… I’m OBSESSED. Every elopement should involve an off-road adventure now, lol!!
One of the most emotional moments of the day happened before Steve + Renae even exchanged vows. Renae, being the thoughtful and crafty soul she is, had made a special gift for Steve that brought tears to everyone’s eyes. Since Steve’s mother had passed away before their wedding, Renae created a pin with his mother’s picture so she could be there with him in spirit. It was such a beautiful and heartfelt gesture, one that truly showed how much love and care she put into every detail of their elopement.
Now, let’s talk about the cows! Steve took us off-roading to a spot where he used to hunt, and when we arrived, we were greeted by a group of fearless, curious cows. And when I say fearless, I mean it, they literally walked right up to us like we were their new best friends. They were completely unfazed by our presence. While we explored (carefully avoiding cow patties, of course), these cows kept our vehicles safe. It was the funniest, most unexpected part of the day, and I wouldn’t have had it any other way!
When it was finally time for Steve + Renae to exchange vows, they had picked the most incredible spot. Their chosen campsite was so remote, that there wasn’t a single person around for miles. Just the two of them, surrounded by the towering trees and breathtaking mountain views of the San Juan National Forest. The moment was raw, intimate, and absolutely magical. No distractions, no noise, just them and their promises to each other. It was hands down one of the most unforgettable moments I’ve captured in 2024!
This elopement wasn’t just about saying “I do.” It was about embracing adventure, honoring the past, and celebrating love in the most personal and meaningful way possible. From the off-roading fun to the emotional details, Steve + Renae’s elopement in Dolores, Colorado was nothing short of magical. And honestly? It made me want to off-road at every single elopement from now on, lol. If you’re dreaming of an adventure elopement that’s totally YOU, let’s chat!!
