There’s something about Crested Butte that just takes your breath away every single time, and Shyann & Mason’s anniversary session reminded me why it’s one of my favorite places on earth. For their 3-year milestone, they decided to book engagement photos and turn the moment into an adventure, and wow, did Crested Butte deliver. From winding along Gothic Road with its endless mountain views to the glassy waters of Emerald Lake, their session felt like a true love letter to Colorado and to each other. This romantic Crested Butte engagement was filled with laughter, champagne, and the kind of wild beauty you only find when you’re willing to chase the adventure!

Canoe Rides & Mountain Romance at Emerald Lake

Our first stop was the stunning Emerald Lake, tucked away high in the mountains. Getting there was an adventure in itself, off-roading up winding roads until the blue-green water appeared like a secret gem. To make it even better, we stumbled across a canoe that some kind soul had left behind for visitors to use. No paddles? No problem. We found some sturdy sticks and got Shyann & Mason out onto the lake, letting the still water and surrounding peaks frame their love in the most magical way. Between the laughter, the splashing, and the sweet stolen kisses, it was the kind of romantic chaos that makes photos feel so alive.

Gothic Road Sunsets & A Champagne Celebration

After the lake, we headed back down Gothic Road where the wildflower meadows opened up and the mountains turned golden with the setting sun. Shyann slipped into a dreamy white dress, Mason wore his cowboy hat proudly, and the two of them looked like they’d stepped right out of a Western love story. They set up a picnic, popped champagne, and soaked in every ounce of that Colorado magic. Watching them laugh, dance, and savor the view made it clear, this was more than just a photo session. It was a memory, a celebration, and a promise of all the adventures still to come.
