There’s something extra special about seeing Fort Clinch State Park come to life first thing in the morning. The ocean is still, the breeze is soft, and the golden light wraps everything in a kind of magic haze that just feels like new beginnings. I met up with Devon and Callee at 8AM for their Fort Clinch State Park couples session and y’all. From the second we started shooting, I knew this one was going to be pure joy.
This spot is such a hidden gem in Florida, and it always delivers. There’s a perfect balance of tall grassy fields, sandy dunes, ocean views. And yes actual beach deer if you stay long enough. (They literally roam the shoreline like it’s normal it’s wild.) But on this morning, the only thing more peaceful than the landscape was the way Devon and Callee moved through it hand-in-hand. Smiling, laughing, fully present with each other!
Getting to photograph Callee again honestly felt like such a full-circle moment. I shot her 16th birthday photos, then her senior portraits, and now here we are, documenting her love story with Devon. Every time we’ve worked together, her vibe has stayed the same. Joyful, effortless, and the kind of person who brings warmth into every frame. She told me she wanted this session to feel romantic, fun, and carefree. And the moment she showed up in that sunshine-yellow dress with boots on her feet and a smile you could spot a mile away, I knew we were about to make magic. Devon is just as easygoing and clearly adores her. Watching them interact felt like witnessing a young, soft kind of love that you just know is the real thing.
We started in the open fields, letting them run around, chase each other, and get comfy in front of the camera (not that they needed help, they’re naturals). The photos of them running hand-in-hand feel like a scene from a movie. We wandered toward the old brick walls that give Fort Clinch its signature beauty and got some of the dreamiest, up-close snuggles and kisses.
Then it was off to the beach a slow walk along the water, a few dips in the tide, and Devon lifting Callee off her feet like something out of a love story. Every scene felt like a mix of playfulness and tenderness, and the soft morning light just tied it all together in the most romantic way.
This place checks all the boxes for a laid-back, dreamy couples session. Whether you want golden fields, moody fort architecture, or wide-open ocean views, Fort Clinch gives you a little of everything and when the light hits just right? It’s chef’s kiss. I always recommend morning sessions here because it’s quiet, glowy, and feels like your own little world.
